Transport

Getting out, with someone who knows the way.

To appointments, shops and the people you love, with a familiar face at the wheel.

Giving up driving is the moment a lot of people date their loss of independence to. The world shrinks to what is walkable, and then to what is inside the house.

Transport with a regular carer puts most of that back. Not just the lift, but the whole outing. Someone who knows which entrance at the hospital is easier, who waits rather than hurries, and who remembers that you always stop for a coffee on the way home.

Carers can come into an appointment with you if you want a second set of ears, and stay out of it entirely if you do not.

It is a different thing being driven by someone who knows you. Your carer knows the GP, the pharmacy and the way you like to stop for a coffee after.

Common questions

Will the carer come into the appointment with me?
If you want them to, yes. Many people find it useful to have someone who can remember what was said. If you would rather they waited outside, that is recorded in your One Story so it does not need discussing each time.
Whose car is used?
It depends on the arrangement in your area, and we will tell you plainly which applies to you before anything starts, including how travel is charged.
